Bone Thugs-n-Harmony are finding themselves back in Cleveland, but this time to stay. No, the Cleveland-made hip-hop group is not moving back to Ohio just yet—but their name is being permanently etched into the city.
This week, Cleveland News 5 announced that the intersection of East 99th Street and St. Clair Avenue in Ward 10 is scheduled to be renamed “Bone Thugs-n-Harmony Way.” Paying homage to the five members, Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Flesh-n-Bone, Bizzy Bone, and Wish Bone, the city has chosen the corner of their childhood street as the commemoration location.

This decision, however, was sparked through a fan-wide petition. About a year ago, the hip-hop group’s supporters, including prominent members like Felicia C. Haney of Beach Street Publicity, came together to vouch for a way to eternalize the artists. From rapping in local Cleveland in 1991 to winning American Music Awards, the group has made their home city proud for over three decades. Now, backed by the council in Ward 10 and numerous foundations like St. Luke’s Spread the Love Foundation, the entire city has chosen to sponsor this momentous event.
So, if you find yourself looking for a way to connect with some Cleveland history in the making, be sure to make your way to Bone Thugs-n-Harmony’s childhood street between noon and 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11th.
