By Sara Continenza of Food Strong
Food Strong specializes in school gardens, culinary arts, and wellness programming.
We emphasize the importance of fresh foods in enhancing overall quality of life. We operate a Learning Garden program at the urban farm located at East Cleveland’s Coit Road Farmers Market. This garden was established in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, consequent school closures, and increasing food insecurity. Since the schools reopened, we have continued to operate our Learning Garden, and we are now teaching classes in 8 schools across Cuyahoga County. We also implement dozens of community wellness programs throughout Northeast Ohio annually.
We are hosting several events which are all free and open to the community. Our high school entrepreneurship program began at the end of January. This is a wonderful opportunity for Cleveland and East Cleveland high schoolers to hone their business skills and connect with local entrepreneurs.

A Care Strong event was held at the East Cleveland Salvation Army on Wednesday, January 26. This event provided free health screenings to low-income individuals and was aimed at catching and remedying preventative illnesses before they become a problem.
Lastly, there is a volunteer clean-up at the Coit Road Market on Saturday, February 19th.
